# Mailchimp

> Use Mailchimp audiences as campaign targets and keep unsubscribes in sync

Mailchimp is a narrower integration than Klaviyo. It gives LTV.ai your audiences and keeps unsubscribes aligned between the two systems.

## Connect

Go to **Settings > Connections** and open **Mailchimp**. Authorize the connection with your Mailchimp account.

## What it does

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Audiences as campaign targets" icon="users">
    Your Mailchimp audiences and segments appear as selectable lists when you pick a campaign audience.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Bidirectional unsubscribe sync" icon="arrow-right-arrow-left">
    Someone who unsubscribes in Mailchimp stops receiving LTV.ai email, and someone who unsubscribes from an LTV.ai send is pushed back to Mailchimp.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

Unsubscribe sync also runs every time you upload a list, so an imported CSV cannot reintroduce someone who has already opted out.

## What it does not do

LTV.ai cannot send through Mailchimp. Campaigns are sent through LTV.ai's own infrastructure.

If Mailchimp is your sending platform, use it as an audience and suppression source, and set up an LTV.ai sending domain for the sends themselves. See [Set up your sending domain](/connect/sending-domain).

<Note>
  Mailchimp is not offered during onboarding. Connect it afterwards under **Settings > Connections**.
</Note>

## Mailchimp or Klaviyo?

They are not equivalent integrations, so it is worth knowing which you have.

|                                    | Mailchimp | [Klaviyo](/connect/klaviyo) |
| ---------------------------------- | --------- | --------------------------- |
| Audiences as campaign targets | Yes | Yes |
| Unsubscribe sync both ways | Yes | Yes |
| Engagement history imported | No | Yes, five metrics |
| Import your header, footer, design | No | Yes |
| Send campaigns through it | No | Yes, via Push to Klaviyo |

If you use both, Klaviyo is the richer connection and the one worth setting up first.

## Troubleshooting

If a Mailchimp audience is missing from the picker, it is usually because the audience is empty, or because the sync has not completed since you created it. Empty lists are hidden from the audience picker by design. See [How audiences work](/audience/how-audiences-work).
